Donald Trump allegedly referred to Haiti, El Salvador and African nations as "sh-thole countries" in a meeting with senators at the White House and late-night hosts were utterly dumbfounded Thursday night.
"I don't know how to break this to you, but I think the president might be racist ''Trenor Noah'' said. "And, you know, as someone who is from South Sh-thole, I'm offended, Mr. President."
According to The Washington Post, the group was discussing immigration and visa lottery system when Trump asked why the United States would want immigrants "from all these sh-thole countries" instead of countries like Norway.
The White House didn't exactly deny the comments in a statement released after the Post's story went up.
"Certain Washington politicians choose to fight for foreign countries, but President Trump will always fight for the American people," White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah said. "He will always reject temporary, weak and dangerous stopgap measures that threaten the lives of hardworking Americans, and undercut immigrants who seek a better life in the United States through a legal pathway."
But Trump did to take to Twitter to make a denial: "The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used. What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made -- a big setback for DACA!"
