Badoo Cult: Police Arrest Herbalist

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the herbalist of Badoo Cult Group, Fatai Adebayo alias Alese.

Adebayo, 34, who specializes in administering oath on members of the group before they launch any attack, was arrested at his shrine located in Imosan Village, a suburb of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. The arrest of the herbalist followed the arrest of some Badoo cult suspects at the weekend including the overall head of the group.

Workers in the state of Osun declared their supports for the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, commending him for his commitment to the welfare of civil servants in the state.

The workers who spoke through leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), among others lauded the governor for acceding to the demands of workers without stress.

Russian Helicopter Crashes In Syria, Two Dead

A Russian helicopter crashed in Syria on New Year's Eve killing both pilots following a technical fault, Moscow's defence ministry said Wednesday.

The Mi-24 military helicopter was flying to Hama, northwestern Syria, and there was no firing from the ground, agencies quote the ministry as saying.

"Both pilots died in a hard landing 15 km from the air base," the ministry said, adding that a technician had been injured and taken to another air base for emergency treatment.

Merkel Resume Talks To End Political Stalemate

Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservatives resume on Wednesday drawn-out talks with Germany's second biggest party aimed at ending months of post-election stalemate and forming a coalition government.

In the year's first such meeting, Merkel and her Bavarian ally Horst Seehofer were scheduled to talk with Martin Schulz, the leader of the centre-left Social Democrats (SPD), from about 1400 GMT.

They hope to lay the groundwork for a week of exploratory talks from Sunday which — if all sides can overcome major policy differences and lingering distrust — could lead to a new "grand coalition" government by perhaps March or April.

Palestinians Won't Be 'Blackmailed' With Trump's Threat

Palestinian leaders said Wednesday they will not be "blackmailed" after US President Donald Trump threatened to cut aid worth more than US$300 million (RM1.2 billion) annually, his latest provocative move that could upturn years of careful diplomacy.

Relations between Trump's White House and the Palestinians were already tense after the US president's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital last month.

The Dec 6 announcement concerning the disputed city led Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas to say the United States could no longer play any role in the Middle East peace process.

Trump's threat in a tweet on Tuesday to try to force the Palestinians into negotiations led to further outrage, though Israeli ministers lauded the move.

A WIDOW has gone blind in Malaysia after she mistakenly used ear drops for her eyes. Sabiah Rabion from Johor Baru damaged the nerves of her eyes, rendering herself blind.

Her words - "I have been suffering for six years and my blindness has caused me to have difficulties in going about my daily routine such as cooking and cleaning," Harian Metro quoted her as saying in a report yesterday.
