Navy, OPC Men in Gun Duel at Atlas Cove!!!

Over 30,000 litres of petrol allegedly stolen from a broken pipeline in the Atlas Cove, Lagos have been recovered by operatives of the Nigerian Navy.

The pipeline was supposed to be protected by a local security outfit, using members of the OPC, but the security company allegedly decided to help itself, puncturing pipeline and siphoning petroleum products. The petroleum products were imported fuel by the NNPC but have been hijacked by the local security outfit assigned to protect the products.

Sunnewsonline learnt the operatives of the Nigerian Navy acting on information, stormed the place where the security outfit was supposed to safeguard and recovered thousand of 25 litres plastic cans filled with petrol preparatory to transporting them to Benin Republic. On sighting the naval operatives, the local security outfit opened fire on them, which the Navy had to repel.

The continuous shooting it was gathered jolted the villagers who ran for cover.

No lives were lost in the shooting which lasted for hours, but the naval operatives succeeded in over powering the fuel thieves. Speaking on the incident, the Commander NNS Beecroft, Rear Admiral Maurice Eno said the operatives from the naval base received intelligence indicating that vandals and thieves were operating around Ilado, Ilashe, Corner loss, Sarkin Juju and Idimangoro area.

He said: “Accordingly, the base monitored the activities around the area for about three weeks to ascertain the veracity of the information. “Consequently, On December 14, at the about 8.10 am, a detachment of personnel from the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft raided the locations and discovered a storage facility having over 1500 plastic storage cans.

“One thousand three hundred and thirty of the jerry cans contained product suspected to be Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) believed to have been siphoned from the NNPC pipelines laid on the island. At the time of the raid, no person was found on the storage facility, accordingly the product was evacuated from the storage facility to NNS Beecrpfy for safe custody.

Admiral Eno said that the team also discovered at the siphoning point, valves connected by the vandals to enable them steal the product.

Alao-Akala Leads PDP, Accord Members To APC

On Saturday, December 16, 2017, all roads led to the historic Mapo Hall in Oja’Aba, Ibadan, where the National Leader of the All Progressive Party, APC, and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, received the former Governor of Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala into the nation’s ruling party.

Alao-Akala, led notable members of his former political party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and his loyalists from Accord Party, AP to the APC. Among the several thousands of PDP and Accord members that decamped to the APC with Alao-Akala were: former Deputy Governor and former Ambassador to Jordan, Taofeek Arapaja; former Secretary to the State Government Ayodele Adigun; former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin; Segun Odebunmi, representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives; former member of the House of Representatives, Folake Olunloyo; former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly; Asimiyu Alarape; former PDP Chairman in the state, Yinka Taiwo, and former local government chairman, Demola Ojo.

Others are four members of Labour Party, LP in Oyo State House of Assembly including: Oladimeji Olawumi and Akande Solomon representing Ogbomosho North and South respectively, and Olagunju Ojo representing Oriire.

Speaking at the occasion, all the APC chieftains said that the mega decampment of the two major opposition parties in the state laid credence to the fact that APC did not have any opposition in the state.

Tinubu said, “Can you now see that there is no opposition for APC in Oyo State? The opposition parties are finished. What is important today is that we now have a clear picture of what will happen in the 2019 election in the state. Today has shown that the electorates will return APC government at the 2019 poll. In the forthcoming election, APC must win. Ogbomosho, Oyo, Ibadan people, you must vote for APC”.

Tinubu noted that the day and the occasion were very significant as it was the birthday of the governor of Oyo state and that it would go down in history as the day opposition ended in Oyo State.

In the same direction, Ondo and Osun State Governors, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola said that the only credible party in Nigeria is APC.

Akeredolu said, “We are very sure that there is no opposition party in Oyo State. There is no more PDP and Accord. The two parties are dead”.

Aregbesola said, “I am impressed today. I am impressed with the large turnout of people. The only party that wants the best for the people is APC. The other parties are parties of the thieves, robbers, rogues and exploiters”.

In his speech, Governor Abiola Ajimobi, who expressed his joy over the quality of politicians that decamped to APC, tongue lashed his predecessor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, whom he described as a political pensioner.

He said, “There are two types of pensioners in Oyo State. One is the retired civil servants and the other is the retired politicians. For a serious politician, who wants to continue to work as a politician, you cannot afford to go to the political parties of retired politicians. Apart from APC, the other parties in the state are moribund and they are ‘Abiku’ parties”.

He warned aspiring governorship aspirants in the state not to make a mistake of not recognizing him as a leader adding, “For those of you who want to be a governor in this state, come and see me. I am the ‘Anobi’ (Prophet), through which you can get to our political god (Tinubu). If you bypass me, you cannot get there”.

The decampees also took turn to speak.

First to call the shot was Alao-Akala who opened his speech by saying, “To God be the Glory”.

He said, “There is no more PDP or Accord Party in Oyo State. Now, Oyo State is APC Party. Our leader, Tinubu, kindly tell the national people that Oyo State is for APC and it is the party that will win the next election starting from the local government to the federal level. Let me say this, I am not boasting, all the big politicians that are decamping today have one time or the other worked under me during my reign as a governor in this state. All my supporters across the state have decamped to APC”.

Lauding Governor Ajimobi, he said, “I salute my Egbon, Governor Ajimobi who is five months older than I. Ajimobi has really worked for the success you are seeing. Myself and my people will support Ajimobi. We will listen to him and we will be loyal to him”.

Also Senator Teslim, who lauded Asiwaju Tinubu and Ajimobi for being good leaders said, “Ajimobi is the leader of politics in Ibadan the same way Baba Adedibu was when he was alive. God made Ajimobi the governor of the state but Ajimobi is not a politician. Recently when I was with him, Ajimobi was telling me how he will establish a farm. Currently, one of the major thing Ajimobi want to do is to establish a farm. He is a business man to the core”.

 Honourable Odebunmi, another decampee said, “I am the only politician who was elected to the House of Representatives during the last election but I am saying that it is not a good party. It is only APC that will care for the youth. Before we decided to follow Ajimobi, we did a research and we are convinced with the result we got. We found out that APC is the only party that has plan for this country and for Oyo State”.

Also, Honourable Alarape said, “I am happy to return to APC, a progressive party, where I started from”. The occasion, which was witnessed by a mammoth crowd, also had in attendance, the wife of the Governor of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, the national officers of APC in the South West led by the former Governor of Ekiti State, Engineer Segun Oni, deputy national vice chairman, Pius Akinyelure, other national scribes from the North, and several party loyalists.

Cryptocurrency Under Fire...Let The Hacking begin!!!

Officials at Transneft told Reuters on Friday its computers had been used for the unauthorized mining of the cryptocurrency monero. Monero is the eleventh-largest virtual currency with a market cap of over $5 billion.

“Incidents where the company’s hardware was used to manufacture cryptocurrency have been found. It could have a negative impact on the productivity of our processing capacity,” according to Transneft Vice President Vladimir Rushailo

Rushailo did not elaborate on whether this hacking attack was the first of its kind.

Software for mining cryptocurrency was automatically downloaded from the web by a Transneft computer and then deleted, company spokesman Igor Demin told the media. He added Transneft had programs to prevent this from happening again.

According to industry experts, hackers are increasingly using corporate computers to mine cryptocurrencies.

A man who paid $227 to buy two crocodiles online that he planned to cook, was shocked when he received two photos of the reptiles instead.

The victim surnamed Wu, reported the scam to police in Weihai, Shandong Province, after he placed an order for two 12.5-kilogramme crocs, Shandong TV reported.

Wu told the police that he contacted the private seller after seeing the ads on the video app, Kuaishou. Police said the man and the vendor discussed his intent to eat the reptiles in detail.

“The seller even taught Wu how to cook them,” said Weihai police officer, Zhang Jie.

But the buyer realised he had been fooled when a small plastic bag arrived four days later containing two identical photos of the reptiles he thought he had ordered.On the back of each photo was written “25 jin.”

The seller has since refused to give Wu a refund, claiming he had “fulfilled his request,” Jie said.

Kwara Speaker Slams EFCC, Says it can Never Fight Corruption!

Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Dr. Ahmad Ali has said that, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC)  since its inception in the year 2000 in the country was  the worst thing that would happen to the people of the country.

 He said that, EFCC was just redefining corruption to mean pursuit of opposition members in the country.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on the state of war against corruption in the country, the Ilorin born politician said that,” the EFCC can never fight corruption in this  country”.

 According to him,  “EFCC from inception in year 2000 is the worst thing that will ever happen to us in this country. We are just fooling ourselves that we are fighting corruption but we are not fighting corruption”. He said, ” EFCC is just redefining corruption to mean pursuit of opposition members. So the first is not against corruption but pursuit of opposition.  

“EFCC cannot fight corruption, EFCC can never fight corruption in Nigeria” 

The speaker who spoke on the sideline on the 10th annual lecture of Justice Mustapha Akanbi(rtd) Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin however said, “ICPC is better suited because ICPC follows the rule.

FIFA Threatens To Kick Spain Out Of 2018 World Cup!!

Spain are in danger of being thrown out of the World Cup on Friday over alleged government interference in its football association.

Fifa wrote to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) warning it would be in breach of the world governing body’s statutes if the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD), the Spanish government’s national sports council, forced it to stage a presidential election following the arrest and suspension of Angel Maria Villar Llona.

The letter followed a complaint allegedly lodged by Villar Llona himself, who resigned as the senior vice-president of Fifa and vice-president of Uefa following his arrest in July but who is still de facto president of the RFEF despite pressure from the CSD for the federation to elect a successor. Fifa confirmed on Friday its letter expressed “concern” about the situation and reminded the RFEF it must manage its own affairs independently of third-party interference.
