The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Thursday disclosed it can now account for every barrel of crude oil sold from Nigeria, because it has achieved 98 per cent automation of all transactions involving the supply, marketing and sale of various grades and blends of the country’s oil across the world.
A statement from NNPC’s Group General Manager, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, in Abuja, quoted the corporation’s Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Division (COMD), Malam Mele Kyari, to have said this.
Kyari explained in the statement that crude oil transaction automation will be concluded in 2018, after which the NNPC would have achieved end-to-end monitoring of every barrel of crude Nigeria sells.
“Today at the click of a button, we can tell you how much oil is sold, at what price, who bought it and where it has gone to,” said Kyari in the statement.
According to him, NNPC’s projection is to operate a completely paperless crude oil data management regime in line with ongoing transformation of its processes.
