How Best To Dress For An Interview


FACT: First impression matters.  We need to realize in this day and age, office attire is more approachable and casual than ever so greater wisdom holds that dressing professionally still pays off in the long run. Dressing well builds confidence, your bosses at work will take you more seriously, you will possess a more intimidating presence and might even help with doing your job better.

An applicant has achived 50% success the moment you get invited for an interview. What you then wear to the interview will at the first instance create an impression and will definitely affect how you are perceived by the employer. A good rule of thumb is to dress like your boss. Shoes should be well-polished and in good condition, not scuffed or run-down at the heels.

Here are useful tips to serve as a guide;

1.  Skirt Suit: Your skirt should not be too wide.
2.  Blouse: A white blouse or any soft colored blouse will do.
3.  Shoes: Always wear closed-toe shoes.
4.  Pants: They should come in black or dark denim (this is applicable for both men and women)
5.  Accessories: Must be kept to a minimum.
6.  Makeup: Don’t wear too much make-up.
7.  Hair: Have your hair clean and simple.
8.  Perfume: Wear very light perfumes or just use a deodorant.
9.  Color: Keep colors conservative, “Keep it classy. Nothing too vibrant, bright, or distracting.

10.Bags: Bags are synonymous with ladies so a good bag is needed to compliment your look.
